Tuesday Tunes- lesser knowns

So, sometimes people are all over artists that aren't on the 'major' radars. My brother is the guru of artists like that. He was all into Jason Mraz before he became more famous. Or Dave Barnes. Just, artists who aren't as TOP 40 as others.

Kinda like Duffy. She's my new 'thing'.

Syrup and Honey- Duffy: I just got introduced to this artist. I may be behind the game, and everyone else knows of her, but she's my latest obsession. I love her voice. She reminds me of a mix of old school group (The Angels) and Colbie Callait, whom I also love.
(I'm also WAY in love with this song of Duffy's: I'm Scared. Fantastic. *it's in the movie "Bride Wars".)

So, I'm all for being introduced to new artists I should check out.

Who is your slightly underground, or lesser known artist you love? Or, even if they're known, maybe you think they're underappreciated. Tell me.. I'd love to 'meet' new music. Me and my old music need to spice up our relationship.

I'm also a big fan of Duffy and Colbie. I saw Colbie in concert over a year ago, opening for Lifehouse and Goo Goo Dolls. I'd never heard of her before that but immediately came home and ordered her album.

I LOVE Duffy!! Her voice is AMAZING!! I also like The Muse--they are awesome!!

I looked up "The Muse" on youtube but didn't find a band. What's their real name? Faith and The Muse? The Muse Academy?

Duffy is so cool- I don't have her album, but check her out on Pandora when I'm there.

Adele caught my attention last year, but my sister was addicted to Brandi Carlisle in a big way. When I am scrapbooking or crafting I ove to listen to Club De Bergas....think shopping in Banana Republic or GAP music. Fun.

I'm a huge fan of Muse - Starlight, Supermassive Black Hole, Map of the Problematique, Time is Running Out, and Feelin' Good are a few of my favorite songs of theirs.

I also recently found a song called "Flightless Bird, American Mouth" by a band called "Iron and Wine". I LOVE IT. I'm also a fan of Jack's Mannequin.

Thanks Bobbi-Jo, for the Iron & Wine song. I'd heard it before but didn't know what it was called or who sings it...

And in the process of looking up that song on YouTube, just discovered a new one (piano): Yiruma "Kiss the Rain" - absolutely beautiful!

My fave new unknown artist is Landon Pigg. His song Falling in love at a Coffee Shop got hooked under my skin and I've been a fan ever since.
I do love Muse also and Iron & Wine. Thank goodness for the Twilight Soundtrack or none of these bands might ever been heard!!
Note though...Landon Pigg isn't on the soundtrack. He's just awesome.

You guys do NOT disappoint!

I'm totally liking Adele AND Brandi Carlisle, but the Club De Bergas never showed up properly anwhere on Youtube-- all I got was some weird gay-soap opera thingy. Not a song!

Bobbi-Jo, I love you. You and twilight make me laugh!

Anon: Yiruma is simply amazing. Sounds like a song I'd want played in the background when they show the movie of my life! It's a total 'soundtrack to life'!

Seriously, lots of the songs listed above are now part of my playlist. THANK YOU!!

LOL! I know, but I have to say in my defense, I loved Muse before Twilight came out. However, thanks to that soundtrack, I fell in love with Iron and Wine!

I'm off to check out Landon Pigg (what an unfortunate name!)

Oooooh, and a couple more I just thought of -

Dashboard Confessional - the song "Stolen" - LOVE IT.

and if you're looking for something very sweet and sentimental, try Frances England. Her CDs are, I guess, meant for kids, but I LOVE THEM. Try "You and Me" (it's on my photography site) and "Sometimes". I love those songs.

Dashboard Confessional is good-- I've been a fan of theirs for a good 8-10 years.

If you're looking for something else, you might also like The Catherine Wheel. It took me a bit to like them, but now I love them. Or there's Massive Attack. (funny, all three of those are because of an Ex who has very good tastes in music-- he's always introduced me to AWESOME stuff)

Frances England kinda makes me laugh. no offence,, but a song about tricycles?! lol

I love love love Bethany Joy Lenz. I'm pretty sure she's an actor too, but her song "Songs in my Pockets" is one of my absolutely faves.

Have you tried Daphne Loves Derby?? They have tons of great ones, but I especially love Cue the Sun. So awesome.

A personal favourite is also Meaghan Smith. Andrew lived with her family in London for a bit. She's LDS, cute, and super talented. I love love love her.

You might like Bianca Ryan. She was a winner for America's Got Talent or something. Young girl with big pipes.

Joshua Radin too. He's good.

And just for fun is Gordon Goodwin's Big Phat Band "Hunting Wabbits". haha

I like Bethany- thanks for that one! Added!

I know and like lots of Daphne Loves Derby too! Another one DJ introduced me to years ago.

Yah, I saw Bianca that night on TV. It was really good. But she's not my fave.

I do love Stolen by Dashboard. Makes me smile in a way I never thought I could again!
I'm also loving Secondhand Serenade.
Their entire album "A twist in my story" is superb and I love their songs "Like a knife" and "Fall for you".
And Bobbi...Landon TOTALLY has an unfortunate name, but an endearing voice. Totally makes up for it!

P.S. Meaghan Smith is an old friend of mine from Halifax. She has an album out that you can purchase on iTunes called "The Crickets Quartet". Absolutely gorgeous songs...but my fave songs of hers are "Haunted" and "5 more minutes".

I often tell people about Joss Stone. She's underappreciated in my opinion. Also, I'm hooked on Justin Nozuka's song "after tonight". Spanishly speaking, Alex Cuba and Alex Ubago...
See if you like Joel Harding.
Kurt Elling and Renee Olstead is the jazz side of me.
